How We Built Tally Hyderabad into a Top 10 Brand Among 400+ Partners and Sold It for INR 1.5 Lakhs

The Background
In 2016, one of our core team members — an accountant with two decades of professional experience — held a prestigious 3-Star Tally Partner license in Hyderabad. Despite his deep expertise and industry credentials, he was struggling. His Tally sales were limited to a small circle of personal contacts, and in a market crowded with over 400 authorised Tally resellers all fighting for the same customers, traditional word-of-mouth was not enough to grow.
Hyderabad’s Tally market in 2016 was one of the most competitive and saturated software reseller ecosystems in India. Our member needed a way to stand out — but he was an accountant, not a marketer.

We would build our own team member’s Tally business from scratch using nothing but digital marketing — and we would do it completely pro bono. Not a single rupee was charged. The Strategy
Our approach was methodical and aggressive, built on three pillars:
1. Domain Acquisition
We registered tallyhyderabad.com — a keyword-rich exact match domain that would instantly signal relevance to anyone searching for Tally services in Hyderabad. In local SEO, a domain like this is worth its weight in gold. While competitors relied on subpages buried deep inside their corporate websites, we owned the most obvious domain name a prospect would type into Google.
2. Website Development
We built a clean, fast, SEO-optimised website on WordPress that targeted every high-intent keyword: Tally dealer in Hyderabad, Tally software price, Tally training, Tally GST update, Tally partner near me, and dozens more. Every page was crafted with the searcher’s intent in mind — not just stuffed with keywords, but structured to answer real questions.
3. Exclusive Phone Number
We purchased a dedicated phone number exclusively for the Tally Hyderabad project. This was not a shared line or a virtual number — it was a real, trackable SIM that rang whenever a lead came in. Every call was a measurable data point. We knew exactly how many enquiries the website was generating, and we could prove the ROI down to the last rupee.
The Results
Within months of launch, tallyhyderabad.com started ranking on the first page of Google for virtually every Tally-related search query in Hyderabad and across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Organic traffic growth without a single rupee spent on ads. No Google Ads. No Facebook campaigns. Every visitor, every call, and every lead came through organic search. The investment was our time, our expertise, and a few thousand rupees for the domain and hosting.
The Exit
After the grand success of the Tally Hyderabad campaign — built entirely on organic growth — our team member found himself busier than ever. The introduction of GST in 2017 transformed the accounting landscape, and as an experienced accountant, he was swamped with compliance work for his existing clients. Managing the flood of Tally leads alongside his GST commitments became unsustainable. So in 2018, he made the decision to sell.
A competitor — an authorised Tally Partner in Hyderabad — recognised the value of what we had built. We sold the complete package: the domain tallyhyderabad.com, the fully-built SEO-optimised website, and the exclusive phone number with SIM.
Sale price: INR 1,50,000 (1.5 Lakhs) as goodwill.
The buyer maintained the website and phone number for five to six years after the acquisition, continuing to receive leads from the asset we had built. That is a testament to the quality and longevity of the work — an SEO asset that kept delivering value for half a decade after we handed it over.
The domain has since expired and is currently available for registration. The buyer eventually let it go, but the original project proved everything we set out to prove.
What This Proves
Domain strategy matters. A keyword-rich domain in a competitive local market can outperform established players who have been in the industry for decades.
SEO is the most cost-effective lead generation channel for local businesses. Zero ad spend. Zero paid promotion. Just a well-built website, properly optimised content, and patience.
Digital assets have real monetary value. A domain, a website, and a phone number — when built strategically — become assets that can be sold for a significant premium.
